1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the HandyMate Customer application, the HandyMate website at https://handy-mate.com, and related customer-facing services operated under the HandyMate name.
The HandyMate Partner application may process additional partner-specific information such as identity verification, skills, service availability and payout details. Where applicable, partner-specific disclosures should also be provided inside the Partner application.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- Name, phone number and profile photo.
- User ID, account status, language, preferences and authentication information.
- Information submitted during registration or profile updates.
Location and address information
- Precise or approximate location, where permission is granted.
- Saved addresses, pickup or service locations, and booking-related location information.
- Live location information when required for active booking tracking, safety or service fulfilment.
Booking and transaction information
- Services viewed or booked, booking time, duration, status, partner assignment and service history.
- Pricing, discounts, invoices, transaction references, refunds and payment status.
- We do not intentionally store full payment-card details. Payments may be processed by an authorised third-party payment provider.
Uploaded content and communications
- Profile images, service-related images, documents or files you choose to upload.
- Support requests, feedback, ratings, reviews and communications sent to HandyMate support.
Device, app and technical information
- Device identifiers, notification tokens, app version, operating system and device model.
- IP address, login records, security events, diagnostics, crash information and app-performance data.
- App interactions needed to provide, secure and improve the service.
3. How we use information
- Create, authenticate and manage your HandyMate account.
- Display services, prices, availability and relevant service partners.
- Create, assign, manage, track and complete bookings.
- Process payments, refunds, invoices and transaction reconciliation.
- Send OTPs, booking updates, service notifications and account alerts.
- Enable location-based matching, navigation, tracking and safety features.
- Provide customer support and resolve complaints or disputes.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security threats and policy violations.
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
- Analyse performance and improve app reliability, usability and service quality.
4. How information may be shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information only when needed to operate HandyMate, including with:
- Assigned service partners: booking details, customer contact details and service location needed to fulfil a booking.
- Payment service providers: transaction information required to process payments, refunds and payment verification.
- Authentication and notification providers: phone authentication, OTP verification and push-notification services.
- Maps and location providers: location data needed for maps, navigation, matching and live tracking.
- Hosting, database, analytics and security providers: information necessary to host, protect, diagnose and operate the service.
- Authorities or legal recipients: where disclosure is required by law, court order, legal process or to protect users and the public.
- Business successors: where HandyMate is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.
5. Third-party services
HandyMate may use third-party technologies such as Firebase services for authentication and notifications, a payment gateway such as Razorpay for payments, and map or location services for navigation and tracking. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
The exact third-party services used may change as the application evolves. We aim to use providers that offer appropriate security and data-protection safeguards.
6. App permissions
Depending on the features you use, HandyMate may request access to:
- Location: to identify nearby services, save service locations and support active booking tracking.
- Camera or photos: to upload a profile picture or service-related image.
- Notifications: to send OTP-related alerts, booking updates and service notifications.
- Phone or communication features: where needed to contact support or an assigned service partner through supported device functions.
You can manage device permissions through your phone settings, though disabling some permissions may limit certain app features.
7. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include HTTPS encryption in transit, access controls, authentication, server security controls, restricted administrative access, logging and backups.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce reasonably foreseeable risks.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide HandyMate services, maintain security, resolve disputes and comply with legal, tax, accounting or regulatory obligations.
- Active account information is generally retained while the account remains active.
- Booking, invoice, payment and transaction records may be retained for the period required by applicable law.
- Security, fraud-prevention and audit records may be retained where reasonably necessary.
- Backup copies may remain temporarily until they are overwritten under the applicable backup cycle.
9. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law and verification of your identity, you may request:
- Access to or correction of certain account information.
- Deletion of your account and eligible associated personal data.
- Withdrawal of optional permissions through your device settings.
- Help with privacy questions, complaints or inaccurate information.

10. Children and minors
HandyMate Customer is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly target children or intentionally collect personal information from children through the Customer application. If we learn that information was collected from a minor contrary to this policy, we will take reasonable steps to review and delete it where appropriate.
11. Data storage and cross-border processing
Information may be processed or stored using service providers located in India or other countries. Where cross-border processing occurs, we aim to use appropriate contractual, technical and organisational safeguards consistent with applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the application, services, legal requirements or data practices. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.
